Kirk Farmer, Academic Director
Even though his main responsibilities are to oversee the academic program and supervise faculty, Kirk considers himself a “teacher by nature.” He holds a bachelor’s degree in Zoology and a master’s degree in Science Education from Brigham Young University. Here at LRA, where he’s been since four month’s after it opened, he enjoys teaching biology and human biology classes. After school, Kirk likes spending time with his wife and their five children. He also enjoys fishing, hunting, and gardening.
Lanee Adamson
Born and raised in Arkansas, Lanee brings Southern pride to Logan River Academy. He has been married for 5 years and has two beautiful little girls. He attended Utah State University and received his B.S. in Education/Social Studies Composite. He is currently pursuing his Masters Degree in Education. In his off time, he enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, and playing sports. At Logan River, Lanee teaches Geography, Government, and U.S. History. ladamson@loganriver.com
Cyndi Johnson
Cyndi Johnson graduated from Utah State University with a dual Bachelor's degree in special education and elementary education. Following college, she taught seven years at a high school, teaching pull-out classes in math for students with mild to severe disabilities and an independent study class for Driver's Education. Other responsibilities were preparing and maintaining files for special education students, working with a variety of people, and team-teaching Algebra, Health, and U.S. History. During her free time, she enjoys ushering at Eccles Theatre, researching her family history, and doing needlework.
Jessica Hills
Jessica attended Utah State University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in
special education with a mild-moderate emphasis, and elementary education. She
began working at Logan River Academy in May 2006 as a Special Education
caseworker and a teacher. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two
sons, hiking, cooking, and playing the piano.
Eric Alder
Eric is married and has two children—a three year old son and five month old daughter. He graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor’s degree in History, Spanish and English as a Second Language. He is currently seeking a Master’s degree in Physical Education. At LRA he teaches World Civilizations and Spanish. Prior to teaching at LRA he taught middle school for three years. Eric also coaches football at a local high school. He really enjoys the students he teaches and loves to spend time with his family.
Julie Williams
Julie teaches English and Modern U.S. History classes. Her favorite topics to teach are perhaps contradictory: poetry and world wars. She received her Bachelor’s degree at Utah State University in Logan and her Associates degree from Rick’s College in Rexburg, Idaho. Raised in California, she was thrilled to exchange its hectic pace for Logan’s quiet mountains. She enjoys playing the piano and playing in the snow, but especially spending time with her new husband Ryan.
MaryAnn Irvine
Maryann Irvine received her BS from Brigham Young University in Business Education. After teaching for a year and then taking time off to raise 5 children she again returned to school and upgraded her teaching certificate. After teaching in the public schools for 12 years she again returned to school this time to earn her math endorsement.
Maryann enjoys working with young people. She also finds great pleasure learning new concepts and skills, family outings and her home. She and her husband, Mark, have 5 children and 6 grandchildren.
Clint Firth
Having lived at least two years in Utah, Idaho, California, Louisiana, and Ecudar, Clint doesn't know exactily where to call home. Clint graduated with a B.A. in International Politics from BYU. After seven years as a CEO/Database Designer in the business world, Clint decided to follow his heart and become a math teacher. Before coming to LRA Clint taught Algebra and Geometry in the public school system. He is currently pursuing a Master's of Education degree at USU. Clint's passions include: his wife and four kids, basketball, backpacking, and fishing. He is also always looking for musically talented students for his wekly guitar jam sessions. Clint is fluent in Spanish and alway looking for opportunities to strike up a conversation to keep his skills current.
Ben Watkins
As a teenage youth camp instructor in eastern Idaho, Ben discovered how much he enjoyed exploring Rocky Mountain ecosystems with students. Nowat Logan River teaching biology and chemistry, believing that theoutdoors is the best classroom, he strives to conveythe wonder of life with its dazzling array of micro- and macroscopic mechanisms. Ben completed a B.S.in biology and chemistry education at Utah State University. After a day's work, you'll probably find him biking, skiing, exploring dirt roads in his '90 Honda Civic, orplaying a little jazz piano for relaxation.
Carly Palacios
Carly received her B.S. from Utah State
University with a major in English Teaching and a minor in psychology. While
attending Utah State, Carly moved to Seattle for a time. After experiencing the
"city life," Carly enjoys the quiet, small-town feel that Logan offers and feels
that this calm atmosphere is beneficial to the students who come to LRA. Carly
has taught various subjects and ages—from elementary school chess class to high
school life skills—and she really enjoys working with teenagers, who constantly
keep her on her toes and make her laugh. Carly’s favorite thing to teach in her
English classes are novels. She especially loves showing students how literature
can connect with their lives, even if it was written a hundred years ago. Carly
and her husband Danny have a little girl. Carly’s hobbies include reading,
crocheting, knitting, and sewing; as well as spending time with her husband and
daughter.
Jalayne Hatch
Jalayne graduated in May 2009 from
Utah State University with a major in Physical Education and a
minor in English as a Second Language. Jalayne is always anxious for an
adventure. She studied abroad in Salamanca, Spain for six weeks and completed
half of her student teaching experience in Hamilton, New Zealand. She considered
leaving Logan to search for adventurous teaching positions elsewhere; however,
she was intrigued with Logan River Academy and couldn’t bear to leave the small
farming towns of Cache Valley. She’s always known that teaching was her calling
because she loves the student/teacher interactions. Jalayne enjoys playing the
piano; she’s played since she was six and she’s been teaching piano for almost
four years. In her spare time Jalayne loves reading, cooking/baking, doing
crossword puzzles, snowmobiling, playing sports, and planning her next
trip.
